Jeannette Julia Young, 83, of Toledo, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 10-11 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.


Jeannette was born on October 8, 1932 near Vining, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Bessie (Cecak) Vesely.
On February 1, 1950, she married Gaylord Bidwell at the Congregational Church in Vining. They later divorced. On October 27, 1958, she married James Young in Hiawatha, Kansas. Jeannette was a head cook for thirty years at King Tower in Tama and sixteen years at Grandview Nursing Home in Toledo where she retired at the age of seventy-seven. Jeannette enjoyed baking, reading, ceramics and gardening. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include six sons, Gaylord (Sue) Bidwell of Lincoln, IL, Craig (Marcia) Bidwell of Lincoln, IL, James Young of Grinnell, Keith (Kathy) Young of Le Grand, Allen Young of Toledo and Todd Young of Cedar Rapids; fourteen grandchildren, April (Matt) Stucky, Mary Bidwell, Christopher (Heather) Bidwell, Rachel (Cadmiel) Santana, Matthew Bidwell, Stephen Bidwell, Billy (Holly) Reeder, Heather Osborn, Justin (Jessica) Young, Lindsey (Nick) Salasek, Bryan Young, Amanda Slocum, Derek Slocum and Emily Stevenson; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Bev) Vesely of Toledo and Tony Vesely of Lincoln, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jim on February 12, 1973; one daughter, Melanie Reeder; and one sister, Joanne Yuska.
A memorial fund has been established.
