TOLEDO – Jeremy "Buddy" Poweshiek, age 23, of Toledo died Monday, September 3, 2007 following an automobile accident. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5 from 4 to 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Jeremy was born on June 21, 1984 in Marshalltown, the son of John Vileta and Dawn Poweshiek. He worked as a bingo caller at Meskwaki Bingo and Casino. Buddy liked fishing and going to live concerts. He also enjoyed his work, but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Terry Vileta; grandfathers, Daniel Kearney and William Poweshiek; and uncle, Jeff Vileta.
Survivors include his parents, Dawn Poweshiek of Tama and John Vileta of Brooklyn; special friend, Rowwena Durnin of Toledo; daughter, Taylor and son, Deyson both at home; three sisters, Aimee Poweshiek of Montour, Jessi Rosenberger of Montour, and Valerie Vileta of Vinton; three brothers, Aaron Ditmarson of Tama, Jared Ditmarson of Tama, and Justin Vileta of Vinton; grandfather, Merrill C. Vileta of Brooklyn; grandmother, Diane Kearney of Montour; and great-grandfather, Arnold J. Vileta of Toledo. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
