Jerry Vore, 74, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. There will be no services held at this time. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama is assisting the family.


Jerry was born on November 10, 1939 in Wheeling, WV, the son of Virgil Vurl and Lorraine M. (Atchison) Vore. He graduated from Toledo High School in 1957. Jerry was united in marriage to Willene Morelock on March 17, 1973 in Houston, TX. He had previously managed apartment buildings in California and Cedar Rapids. Jerry most recently worked as a driver for Godfrey Motors in Marshalltown. He had been an avid bowler, rolling two perfect 300 games over the years. Jerry also enjoyed playing cribbage.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Rick Lunsford; and one brother, James in infancy.
Survivors include his wife Willene of Toledo; children, Rodney (Kelly Gibson) Vore of Casper, WY, Dawn Lough of Toledo, Lori (Keith) Fairbanks of Cedar Rapids, Ronee (Jeff) Slagle of Tama, Robert Vore of Marshalltown, Randy (Dawn) Lunsford of California, and Renee (Jim) Lee of Casper, WY; numerous grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Mary) Vore of Belle Plaine and Fred (Bev) Vore of Vining; three sisters, Linda (Denis) Wilcox of Newton, Sue (Mike) Lewis of Le Grand, and Gloria Jean (Larry) Peebles of Grinnell; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends.
