John Gerald Jones, 48, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. A Private Interment will be held at a later date. A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 5-7 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.
John was born on October 23, 1967, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Jerry and Susan (Mishler) Jones.
He graduated from South Tama in 1986 and attended Marshalltown Community College.
John served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.
On May 16, 2015, he married Jo-Anna Locke in Pella, Iowa. John had two children Brianna Kay and Kirsten Ann from a previous marriage. John was a trainer in table games at the Meskwaki Bingo & Casino and was also a dealer and floor supervisor prior to that. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. John enjoyed fishing, golfing and was an avid sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes. Family was everything to him and he loved his two little girls with all of his heart.
Survivors include his wife, Jo-Anna Jones of Toledo; two daughters, Brianna (14) and Kirsten (9) both at home; one step-daughter, Sabrina and husband Kevin Jayne of Marshalltown; and his parents, Jerry and Susan Jones of Tama.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial fund has been established.
