Obituary

John E. Llewellyn, 82, of Toledo passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Stan Upah officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

John was born on September 24, 1932, in Leon, Iowa, the son of E. Grant and Ethel (Scott) Llewellyn.
He graduated from Guthrie Center High School.
John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On December 31, 1952, he was united in marriage to Shirley Gilmore in Guthrie Center, Iowa. John was a Lineman for the Iowa Electric Company starting in Guthrie Center, then Redfield, Iowa and came to Toledo in 1964. He retired in 1991 and then worked for USS Polaris in Toledo. John was a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and being on the farm, especially watching the cattle. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Shirley of Toledo; four daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Lorenzen of Spencer, Marcy (Brian) Lindstrom of Highland, Utah, Shannon Medrano of Des Moines and Shelley (Ron) Sadler of Chariton; one son, Tom (Deb) Llewellyn of Tama; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Grant Llewellyn of St. Charles and Jim Llewellyn of Ames; one sister, Sharon (Milton) Norton of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Llewellyn.
