John Raphael TePoel, 75, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. It was his wish to be cremated and there are no public services planned at this time.

John was born on February 8, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Leonard Wayne and Luella Mae (Spratt) TePoel.

John drove truck his entire working career. He was employed at TMC in Des Moines for twenty-five years and worked at various other trucking companies over the years. In 1970, while trucking, John met his future wife, Patricia (Benner) Rund, at King Tower in Tama. She was a waitress. They had their first date on July 18, 1970 and were married on June 11, 2004 at their home in Tama.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Tama; son, Duane (Brenda) TePoel of Solon; daughter, Johnna (Dave) Nelson of Becker, MN; stepson, Terry Benner of Tama; five grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard TePoel (Jody Snodgrass) of Solon.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister-in-law, Mary TePoel.
