Josephine Sarah Lorenz, 94, of Tama, formerly of Des Plaines, IL, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Premier Estates of Toledo under the care of Hospice Compassus. Private graveside services will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Josephine was born on September 25, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Maria (Lombardo) Romano.

On April 13, 1947, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Lorenz in Chicago, IL. Josephine was a member of the Catholic Church. Josephine liked Bingo and going to the casino. She enjoyed happy times with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two children, Marlene (John) Werner of Tama, and Rick (Kathy) Lorenz of Sun City West, AZ; four grandchildren, Richie and Rob Lorenz, Alison (Tyson) Smith, and Megan (Matt) Gerhardt; seven great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Eleanor Smith, A.J. Gerhardt, Katie, Teddi, Lyric, and Lucas Lorenz; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; four brothers; and two sisters.

A memorial fund has been established.
