Obituary

TAMA-Josephine Satariano, age 87, of Tama, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Grandview Acres in Toledo due to a short illness. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2007, at 10:30 AM at Tama Assembly of God Church in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes and Pastor Karen Norton officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2007 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Josephine Satariano was born on July 11, 1919, in New York, NY, the daughter of Sam and Vita (Parisi) Spinella. As an infant, she moved with her parents to Italy. She received her education through rural schools and graduated as a dress designer in Italy.
On June 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Peter Satariano in Sicily, Italy and on November 5, 1949 emigrated to the U.S.A. and made their home in Tama, where they opened the Quality Grocery Store at 107 W. 3rd Street from 1950 to 1989.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Peter; two brothers, Albert and Salvatore; and one sister, Rosie.
Survivors include three sons, Anthony (Julie) Satariano of New Sharon, Iowa, Albert Satariano of Denver, Colorado, and John Satariano of Tama; one daughter, Josephine (James) Sheridan of Crookston, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Allyson and Aaron; one sister, Stella D'Izzia of Giarre, Italy; and one brother, Daniel (Paoline) Spinella of Torino, Italy.
