TOLEDO- Joyce Arlene Yilek, age 69, of Toldeo died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Reverend Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29 from 5 to 8 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Joyce was born on December 14, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Annetta (Moss) Rudkin. She was united in marriage to Marvin Yilek on October 2, 1959 at the Tama Methodist Church. Joyce worked as a bookkeeper at Farm Service for fifteen years and at GTE for ten years. She was past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama. Joyce was a Wieting Theatre board member for many years and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, and playing cards and dominos. Joyce especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Arthur, a brother William Lewis, and a sister Merle Ann Phillips.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; three sons, James (Arlene) Yilek of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert (Tonya) Yilek of Dunbar, and Michael Yilek of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Kathrine (Keith) Young of LeGrand; and eight grandchildren, Darrin, Nigel, Chase, Lindsey, Bryan, Jeffrey, Devin, and Ashley.
A memorial fund has been established.
