Judith “Judie” Ann Haynes, 84, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Toledo with Pastor Tom Bower officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.

Judith was born on August 9, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of William and Iola (Mikkelson) McAteer.

Judith graduated from Toledo High School in 1960.

On October 7, 1962, she was united in Fred Haynes at the First Presbyterian Church in Toledo. Judie held several secretarial positions over the years, including Farm Bureau, Farm Service Agency, Tama County Abstract, and she retired from Tama County Recorder’s Office.

Judie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Toledo, where she was an Elder and former Deacon. She was formerly on the Wieting Theater Board and was always there to help out in the community as she loved to help people. Judie was great at remembering everyone’s birthdays with care packages, and generally looking out for her fellow man.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, Fred of Toledo; daughter, Tammie (John) Lohnes of Wichita, KS; son, Kurt (Sarah) Haynes of New Braunfels, TX; grandchildren, John (Kimberly) Lohnes III, Christopher (Katherine) Lohnes, Emma Haynes, Finn Haynes, and Wylder Haynes; one great-granddaughter, Felicity Lohnes; one brother, John Spear of Troy, IL; two sisters, Beverly Vesely of Toledo, and Jacqueline Cizek of Toledo; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers-in-law, Ed Vesely and Delane Cizek; and sister-in-law, Margola Spear.
