Judith Ann
Krumrie
September 5, 1939 – May 11, 2024
Judith Ann (Anderson) Krumrie, 84, took her last breath on this earth on May 11, 2024. She passed peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Judy began her journey on September 5, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was the 4th child of Walfred and Ada Anderson. She grew up in South St. Paul, along with her siblings Reuben, Dauphney and Nancy. This Swedish family was very close and everyone who met them, loved them.
At the age of 17, she met the love of her life, Gerald Krumrie. She became his everything even while he was away doing his job as a marine. They married June 14, 1958. They became parents to Gerald Jr. and Susan and moved to Afton, Minnesota where life-long friends continued to multiply. Judy took a job at Afton-Lakeland Elementary School to be near her kids. She tolerated Ger's hunting and fishing habits as long as he brought home wild lilacs and kept her in pretty clothes. She always took pride in having her hair perfect and being dressed to perfection with fine clothes and jewelry. As a family, you could find them on the river, tent camping on the islands with friends. Even though she wanted a pool, she was blessed with a boat, affectionately named Babe's Pool!
Family believes that somewhere along the way, Ger forgot her name so she was "Babe". Also known as Mom, Auntie, Grandma, Great Grandma, Nanny, Sister, Friend, Mutti, Ma.
She retired in 1999 and the empty-nesters began spending winters on Dauphin Island, Alabama where they added another large group of friends to their family. Moose Lake became their Minnesota home where their family continued to grow for the next 22 years.
Once they weren't able to travel as easily, Toledo, Iowa called them to a brand new assisted living apartment near their daughter. Judy survived many health issues including cancer and Ger then became her primary care-giver as well as partner in life. During their year and ½ at Birkwood, she went in and out of hospitals, medical appointments and rehabilitation. She continued to play bingo, play cards, do crafts, go on bus tours and continued to form bonds with neighbors.
Judy is survived by her husband, Gerald, who continues to reside in Toledo, her children, Gerald Jr (Patricia) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Susan (Ryan) of Toledo, Iowa. Gerald Jr. and Susan have given her 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, many nieces and nephew's families and her sister, Nancy (Don).
She leaves behind more friends than most people have ever known. They describe her as sweet, tender, funny, happy, caring, loving, faith based, kind and friendly to everyone. She was rarely seen without Ger by her side.
Welcoming her to heaven were her parents, sister, brother and her best friend, Bev.
Her faith was important to her and she had several church families.
Family will be hosting 2 informal gatherings in her memory:
