TAMA-Judy L. Powers, age 61, of Tama, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at her home in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 5 -7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Judy was born on December 29, 1947, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence A. and Erma (Judge) Powers.
She graduated from South Tama High School in 1966 and then graduated from Beauty School. She owned and operated, Judy's High Styling for twelve years. She then worked at the Hair Clinic and most recently worked at Top Attention. Judy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed painting, cross stitching, reading and movies. She especially enjoyed her animals.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Joyce Fowler.
Survivors include three brothers, Wendell (Frances) Powers of Le Grand, Donald (Joyce) Powers of Montour and Harvey Powers of Tama; four nieces, Brenda (Mac) McDowell, Deb (Dave) Volver, Susan Waters and Linda Powers; two nephews, Steven (Pam) Fowler and Kevin Fowler; three great-nephews Matthew and Adam Waters and Riley Fowler; and two great-nieces, Cecilie and Joyce Fowler.
A memorial fund has been established.
