June Faye Bear "KiWeTa", 72, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Larry Lasley Sr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Thursday evening, August 8, 2019 at the Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building on the settlement.
June was born on August 9, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Maggie Mitchell and Frank Youngbear.
She graduated from North High School in Des Moines and received an Associate's Degree from Marshalltown Community College. June worked at the Meskwaki Bingo & Casino in the Finance Department and later in the Employee Benefits Department.
June liked spending time outdoors, Pow Wows and going to the casino. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and other family. She will be missed by all.
Survivors include her sons, Ralph Sanchez of Texas, Ty (LaVonne) Bear and Tyson (Lanie) Bear of Tama; step-daughters, Tonya Bear of Montour and Gayle Walker of Tama; step-sons, Leon M Bear Jr., Sean Bear, Jay Bear Sr. all of Montour; sister, Leona Davenport of Wright City, MO; grandchildren, Tylene Bear of Tama, Tylan of South Dakota, Tryson Bear, Kyrah Bear, and Athena Bear all of Tama; nieces, Denise Montgomery of O'Fallon, MO, LeAnn Davis of Tama, Kristina and Michelle Hoag of Tama, Deanna Humphreys of TX, and Patty Boswell of Marshalltown; nephews, Kerwin Davenport of Tama, Lonny Street of NC, Richard Street of ND, Steve Street of CA, Sean Davis of MD, and Wendall Dolezal of Marshalltown. Her traditionally adopted daughter, Candice Sanache of Tama; and many more family members and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leon Max Bear; son, Andrew Sanchez Jr.; daughter, Tylene E. Bear; brothers, Ralph Decorah, Tony Decorah, and Steve Mitchell; sisters, Connie Mitchell and Carolyn Hoag.
