Obituary

TAMA-Justin "Keith" Weitzell, age 78, of Tama, died on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama due to a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 10, 2007 at 1:30 PM at the Reformed Baptist Church in Tama with Pastor Paul Rendall officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be Thursday, August 9, 2007 from 5-7 P.M. in the lower level of the Reformed Baptist Church, 701 State St. in Tama.
Justin "Keith" Weitzell was born on June 1, 1929, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Verna (Reedy) Weitzell.
He graduated from Tama High School and attended three and one half years at Iowa State University.
Keith served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On June 22, 1951, he was united in marriage to Olive Shope in Atlanta, Georgia. He farmed most of his life and raised cattle. Keith's previous careers included an insurance adjuster for Bohemian Mutual, operating Weitzell Saw Mill, and he was a sales representative for Forney Welders.
Keith was a very active member of the Reformed Baptist Church in Tama. He was also a member of the Isaac Walton League and Tama American Legion. He loved classical music and enjoyed woodcarving and gardening. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a twin son and daughter, in infancy in 1969.
Survivors include his wife, Olive of Tama; his children, Jeff (Terrie) Weitzell of Toledo, Jennifer (the late Mark) Melville of Ankeny, Pamela (John) Adams of Cedar Rapids, and Cynthia Weitzell of Union Grove, WI; eight grandchildren, Dr. Lenora (Shadi) Adams Haddadin, Justin (Allison) Adams, Kevin (Kristy Steffensmeir) Adams, Jonathan Adams, Joshua Weitzell, Tiffany Carole Weitzell, Melissa Anne Melville, and Breanna Kae Melville; and one brother, Rex Weitzell of Des Moines.
