Karlene Karen Sells, 78, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Karlene was born on August 24, 1937, in rural Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Pearl (Youngman) Wilkerson.
She attended rural Toledo schools and graduated from Toledo High School in 1955..
On November 21, 1968, she was united in marriage to Duane Sells in Toledo, Iowa. He passed away on April 16, 2001 while they were living in Arkansas. Karlene was a waitress and also did seasonal work at Pioneer Hybrid. She retired in 2000. Karlene enjoyed Gospel music, especially Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed Thomas Kinkade paintings and pansies.
Survivors include her stepson, Kerry Sells of Oceanside, CA; her step-grandson, Beau Bristol of De Pere, WI; three brothers, Wayne (Shirley) Wilkerson of Toledo, Theron (Doris) Wilkerson of Garwin and Lynn (Lorraine) Wilkerson of Tama; one sister-in-law, Carla Wilkerson of Toledo; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Duane; a stepdaughter, Lisa Warner; and a brother, Harold Wilkerson.
A memorial fund has been established.
