CLUTIER-Kathy Podhajsky, age 61, of Clutier, died on Friday, November 7, 2008, in her home in rural Clutier following a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, November 10, 2008 from 4-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Kathy was born on July 30, 1947, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Mike and Joyce (Booth) Story.
She graduated from Spencer High School.
On April 22, 2005, she married Duane Podhajsky in the Tama City Park. Kathy enjoyed sewing, cooking, and playing with her cats. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her father; one sister, Janice Babb and one brother, Alan Sunkenburg.
Survivors include her husband, Duane of Clutier; four children, Dale Peppmeier of Kansas, Susan (Clay) Garver of Iola, KS, Angel (David) Kofstad of Tama, and Jhessie Hill (Amber Thorson) of Marshalltown; her mother, Joyce (Everett) Sunkenburg of Mesa, AZ; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell Story of WI; several nieces and nephews; and many kids she considered her own.
A memorial fund has been established.
