Obituary

MONTOUR- (Kelly) Ann Cooper, age 43, of Shakopee, MN, and formerly of Mason City, IL and Montour, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Friendship Manor in Shakopee, MN after a life-long struggle with brain tumors. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Living Faith United Methodist Church, Montour Center with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 10-11 AM at the church.
Ann Cooper was born on October 26, 1965, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of John W. and Judy (Hennesy) Cooper. She along with her two siblings, Jarret and Erin, lived in Montour and Algona, Iowa, as well as Kansas and Minnesota before settling in Mason City, IL. After graduating from Mason City High School in 1984, Ann received two degrees, first from Evangel University in Springfield, MO and then the University of Idaho. She found her home in Seattle where she rooted for the Mariners and worked first for the University of Washington and then later was an early web designer and production manager for Microsoft.
Ann's accomplishments and extensive charity work can be considered even more extraordinary considering she had her first brain tumor surgery at the age of eight and then two more in the past ten years. After the final surgery she moved to be with her parents in Mason City, IL and then to Shakopee, MN after the death of her father, John in 2002. Her final two years were at Friendship Manor where she enjoyed daily visits by her mother and interacting with her nephew, Cooper John and baby niece, Elia Jane.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her father, John.
Ann is survived by her mother, Judy of Shakopee, MN; a brother, Jarret of San Francisco, CA; and a sister, Erin (Chris) Kost and niece and nephew of Shakopee, MN; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial fund has been established.
