Kendall Staker, 70, of Traer, passed away peacefully at his home in Traer, Iowa on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 3, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Traer Memorial Building, 414 2nd St., Traer, Iowa with a luncheon to follow and a Celebration of Life until 9:00 PM.
Kendall was born on August 24, 1955, in Marshalltown Iowa, the son of Marvin and Verona (Langenbau) Staker.
Kendall graduated from North Tama High School in the class of 1973.
After high school, Kendall attended Hawkeye Community College where he majored in welding. Soon after he met the love of his life, Lynn Reynolds, at a local gathering. They were soon engaged and married June 23, 1979. Together, they raised 3 children, Leigh, Megan and Brent, who blessed them with 7 beautiful grandchildren.
From an early age, Kendall farmed alongside his father Marvin, until his retirement in 1987. Kendall continued to raise cattle and grow crops. He loved his farm and lived by the values of hard work, generosity, and caring for the people he loved. As much as Kendall loved farming, his heart was always with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. Kendall also valued his time socializing with close friends and enjoyed weekend trips to the river, only to be cut short by the same excuse that the cows needed to be fed, so he could go home. Kendall would drop everything to lend a hand, fix a problem, or be there when someone needed him.
Kendall and Lynn loved to travel, they made multiple trips to Colorado and the Black Hills. They also had many daily rituals together consisting of coffee on the porch, Ranger rides to see grandkids, check crops and his beloved cattle.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Lynn Staker of Traer; Daughters, Leigh (Tyler) Sell of Traer; Megan (Soheil) Alaghmandan of San Fransico, CA. Son, Brent (Danielle) Staker of Traer, and seven grandchildren, Molly, Lily, Wesley Sell; Alexis, Kallie and Kendyl Staker; Ayla Alaghmandan; Father, Marvin Staker of Traer, sisters, Cindy (Josh) Youel of Traer, Dawn (Ken) Crawford of Riverside, and Tammi (Scott) Hamilton of Clear Lake; sister-in-law, Beth (Matt) Eberle of Marshalltown; and many other family members and friends.
