Obituary

Kenneth D. Sents, 71, of Tama, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at his home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Grace Community Church in Toledo with Pastor Greg Boyle officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the church. Committal Services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington. Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 5-6 PM at Aplington Baptist Church in Aplington. A Memorial Service will then be held at 6:00 PM at Aplington Baptist Church in Aplington with Dale Janssen officiating.


Kenneth was born on May 20, 1945 in Aplington, Iowa the son of Rudolf and Gertie (Mudderman) Sents. He graduated from Aplington High School in 1963. Kenneth served his country in the US Navy. He was united in marriage to Jolene Card on June 9, 1967 in Allison, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1992. Kenneth was united in marriage to Joanne Crabtree on December 5, 1998 in Aplington. Kenneth was employed by the Department of Transportation for seven years. He then farmed for several years. Kenneth later worked in insurance sales. He finished his career with the Marshalltown Community School district working as a custodian and groundskeeper. Kenneth loved fishing and enjoyed the time he spent at his trailer on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor, MN. He also liked playing cards with his friends. Kenneth attended Grace Community Church in Toledo. He had formerly been a trustee, youth group leader, and Sunday School teacher at Aplington Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of seventeen years, Joanne of Tama; two children, Melissa (Tom) Lindaman of Aplington and Kevin Sents of Independence; six step-children, Teresa Thompson of Broken Arrow, OK, Matthew Dunn of Tama, Dianna (Jerry) Brown of Tama, Steven (Melissa) Dunn stationed in California with the US Marine Corps, Mike Dunn of Marshalltown, and Tim (Holly) Dunn of Tama; seven grandchildren, thirteen step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, Rodney (Connie) Sents of Aplington; and one sister, Dwanna (Kenneth) Johnson of Dike.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jolene; one brother, Dwayne Sents; and one nephew, Andrew Johnson.
