Obituary

TAMA-Kenneth R. Van De Walle, 87, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. A Public Graveside Service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating.
Kenneth was born on April 21, 1925 in rural Tama, Iowa, the son of Leander and Carrie (Melsa) Van De Walle.
He attended Tama Public Schools. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
On September 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marie Ludwig in Tama, Iowa. Kenneth was a mechanic for Southard Implement in Tama, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed farming, gardening, metal work, and his cats.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Marie on January 9, 2009; his daughter, Irene Carlson; two brothers, John Van De Walle, and a brother in infancy.
Survivors include; five grandchildren, Gary (Abby) Carlson of Chesapeake, VA, Diane (Matt) Kesl of Tama, Linda (Joe) Clark of Atkins, Sharon (Steve) Dieke of West Des Moines, and Sheryl (Dan) Thornton of Johnston; fourteen great-grandchildren; his son-in-law, Paul Carlson of Tama; and a nephew, Leonard Van De Walle of Tama
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
