TAMA- Kenneth G. Williams, age 93, of Tama formerly of Montour, died Thursday afternoon, August 31, 2006 at Grandview Acres in Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse, officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 4, 2006 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Kenneth was born on May 17, 1913 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Roy G. and Ruth (Donnegen) Williams. On September 3, 1938, he married Mary Jane Quigley in Marshalltown. He retired from Marshalltown Manufacturing as Production Superintendent. He then worked with his brother in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 3 ½ years doing contract work for Standard Oil. He then returned to Iowa and started Williams Manufacturing in 1975. Kenneth served several terms on the Montour City Council and also served one term as mayor. He enjoyed tinkering with radios and later televisions. He liked to read and enjoyed listening to all types of music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Jane, and his brother John.
Survivors include four sons Billy L. (Jan) of Montour, John T. (Debbie) of Montour, Robert J. of Toledo, and Richard C. (Colleen) of Pella; grandchildren Scott, Shelley, Stacy, Melissa, Matthew, Jennie, Marie, Nicole, and Karen; great-grandchildren Sckyler, Shantel, Shayla, Nathan, Noel, Jonathan, Lorin, and Reese; a sister Naomi Vonesh of London, Ontario Canada; and sisters-in-law Yvonne Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Marion Quigley of Dania, Florida.
A memorial fund has been established.
