Kevin Shayne Hintermeister, 66, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama.

Kevin Shayne Hintermeister was born on April 28, 1958, in Muscatine, Iowa to Gene and Joyce (Smith) Hintermeister.

Kevin graduated from BGM High School. He was a police officer for 30 years and then went into sales and most recently worked for Midwest Radar. He was a member of the Shriners and Kiwanis. Kevin enjoyed golfing, music and camping. He was a big John Wayne fan; and liked watching the Andy Griffith show as well as Gunsmoke. Kevin also liked listening to his political shows. Kevin never missed a chance at going to the Iowa State Fair. He will be remembered by his family as an "arm chair comedian" and story teller. He could remember hundreds of jokes; "the Rolodex of punch lines."

Survivors include his wife, Wendy Hintermeister of Toledo; children, Vincent (Destiny) Hintermeister of Dysart and Wyatt Hintermeister of Des Moines; siblings, Carmela (Larry) Tuttle of Belle Plaine and Tim Hintermeister of Grinnell; his in-laws, Bev and Kenny Blocker and Deb Blocker all of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Melvin Blocker.

A memorial fund will be established.
