LaQuetta Ward, 51, of Tama, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at her home. A Traditional Wake will be held Monday evening at the Glenn Roberts' Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Montour. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Wayne Pushetonequa as speaker and Frank Blackcloud as head Pall Bearer.

LaQuetta was born on May 13, 1971, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Jimmie Ward and Alma YoungBear.

She graduated from South Tama High School.

LaQuetta enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids. She liked traveling, concerts, sewing and spending time at the casino. She was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include her son, Deontre (Jayde) Butts; mother, Alma Ward; brothers, Deron (Shirley) Ward, James Ward, Aaron (Gayle) Walker, Danny (Waskonas) Wabaunasee; sisters, JoAnn (Russell) YoungBear, Ferol Ward, Jana (André) Roberts and Kimberly Ward; grandchildren, Malayiah, Dontae, Alma, Deontre Butts Jr., Meya and Javontae Roberts; and her special friend, Jerry Oden.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Ward; brothers, Montgomery Ward and Eddie Tecumseh; nephews, Wayman Wolf and Royce Timberwolf; and niece, Devon Ward.
