Obituary

TAMA-Larry E. Hamor Jr., age 42, of rural Tama died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in an automobile accident in Boone County. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 900 Park St., Tama, with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13 from 3 to 8 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is handling the arrangements.
Larry was born on August 12, 1966 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Larry and Patricia (Polka) Hamor Sr. He graduated from South Tama High School in 1984. He was united in marriage to Cindy Scharnweber on September 2, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Larry was employed by Scharnweber Water Conditioning, Plumbing, and Heating as a plumber, and had been with the company for twenty-four years. He was extremely proud that he was a licensed journeyman plumber. Larry was a member of Turkey Federation and NRA. He raised deer for hunting preserves as well. Larry enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, and anything else outdoors. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his children.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Darlene Hamor.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; children Kacee and Wesley at home; parents; Patty (Robert) Youngman of Tama, and Larry Hamor Sr. of Grinnell; mother-in-law, Ruth Scharnweber of Tama; two sisters, Deb (John) Wagner of Chelsea, and Kelli Hulin (Eli) of Gilman; three step sisters, Maralee Youngman of Garwin, Melanie (Mike) Nagle of Garwin, and Heather (Brian) Mattingly of Spencer; two step brothers, Timothy Youngman (Becky) of Tama, and Rick (Brandi) Zhorne of Tama; grandparents, Paul (Doris) Polka of Tama, Paul Hamor of Grinnell, and Don (Leona) Moore of Toledo. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in law.
A memorial fund will be established for Larry's children.
