TAMA-Larry "Amos" Marion Lenning Sr., age 66, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Tama, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21 from 4 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Larry was born on August 25, 1943 in Marshalltown, the son of Amos and Violet (Willson) Lenning. He graduated from Tama High School in 1961 and later graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport. He retired from DeBruce Grain Inc., after twenty years of service as a grain merchandiser. Larry was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Louisville and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a loving father and grandfather.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include a son, Larry (Kelly) Lenning Jr. of Louisville, KY; a daughter Amber (Brian) Murphy of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Max, Mary Grace, and Anna Katherine Murphy, and Darby Lenning; a brother, Gary (Maryanne) Lenning of West Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
