Laureen (Youngbear) Puentes, 55, of Montour, passed away, Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. A Traditional Wake will be held Wednesday evening at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

Laureen was born on August 10, 1968, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Rolland and Rosalind (Kapayou) Youngbear.

She married Reyes Puentes on April 20, 1990, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Laureen was previously employed at the Meskwaki Casino. She enjoyed watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies, shopping, watching sports, word searches and mobile games. Her greatest joy was spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband, Reyes Puentes of Montour; two sons, George Puentes (Ashlynne Roberts) of Tama and Luis Puentes (Gabby Gaulke) of Dubuque; one daughter, Rollanda Puentes of Toledo; one granddaughter, Eyla Puentes of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Robert and James Youngbear.
