Lavonne Theresa Jacobsen, 87, of Tama, passed away January 8, 2014 at Carrington Place of Toledo under the care of Iowa Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10 from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.

Lavonne was born on April 25, 1926, at home in rural Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Anita (Aldrich) Jacobsen.
She graduated from Tama High School.
Lavonne was formerly an executive secretary for the Superintendent of the South Tama School District. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Lavonne loved playing piano and her cats. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with them.
Survivors include two sisters, Patty Ratcliff and Rita Jacobsen both of Tama; and one brother, Frances Jacobsen of Tama.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother-in-law, Dick Ratcliff.
Memorials may be directed to the Tama County Humane Society.
