Obituary

Leona Mae Moore, 94, of Tama, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Unity Point Health in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Leona was born on October 7, 1923, at home on the family farm in rural Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Smith) Bidwell.

Leona went to rural schools and attended high school in Toledo.

On October 10, 1959, she married Donald Moore in Barron, Wisconsin. Leona worked at King Tower in Tama and then Marshalltown Instruments for twenty-five years until they closed. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Leona liked playing cards and fishing. She, Don, and her brother and sister-in-law had a cabin in Canada for many years. She also enjoyed going to the Casino. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Patti) Youngman of Tama; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Bidwell of Tama; her son-in-law, Kenny Backen of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Donald in 2015; one daughter, Barb Backen in 2017; three brothers, Orie Bidwell, Raymond Bidwell, and Leonard Bidwell; and one sister, Dorothy Metz.
