TAMA-Leona M. Riffle, age 91, a resident of Grandview Acres in Toledo and formerly of Tama, died on January 1, 2007, at Grandview Acres in Toledo following a lengthy illness. Private Family Graveside Services will be held at Rector Cemetery in rural Chelsea with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating.
Leona M. Riffle was born on January 15, 1915, in Chelsea, Iowa, the daughter of James and Ella Mary (Upah) Hayek.
She graduated from Chelsea High School.
On January 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Riffle in Des Moines, Iowa.
Leona was member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama. She was a beautiful seamstress and loved to cook and bake kolaches. Leona especially enjoyed and loved her family.
Preceding her in death was her parents; her husband, Lloyd Riffle Sr; and two brothers, Edward and Lawrence Hayek.
Survivors include two sons, Lloyd (Donna) Riffle Jr. of Tama, and Larry Riffle of Minden, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Randy, Rick, Richard, Heather and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Chelsie; and several step-great-grandchildren.
