Obituary

TAMA- Leona Percy Walz, age 93, of Tama, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at Carrington Place in Toledo following a short illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4 from 4 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Leona was born on December 26, 1914 in rural Tama, the daughter of George and Alma (Kautz) Beadle. She graduated from Tama High School in 1933. She was united in marriage to Marvin Walz on June 1, 1938. Leona taught country school in Columbia Township prior to her marriage and was later a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with friends and neighbors. Leona also loved to dance. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Columbia Homemakers, Haven Cemetery Association, Oak Hill Cemetery Association, and Living Faith United Methodist Church and UMW in Tama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marvin in 1985; and one brother, Willard Beadle.
Survivors include one son, Roger (Linda) Walz of Tama; and three grandchildren, Michelle Walz of Kansas City, KS, Jennifer Walz of South English, and Matthew Walz of North Liberty.
