Leslie H. Sienknecht, 89, of Clutier passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Clutier Community Church in Clutier with Pastor Don Drahos officiating. Interment will follow at Oneida Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Leslie was born on October 19, 1926, in Gladbrook, Iowa, the son of John and Katie (Linder) Sienknecht.
Leslie served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Clutier in 1934 and until 1958 was a partner in the Sienknecht Implement in Clutier. He then farmed until his retirement.
On September 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Pauline Sedlacek at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Leslie was a member of the Clutier Community Church, American Legion and Farm Bureau. He loved Allis Chalmers tractors.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Pauline of Clutier; three children, Donna (Dan) Larson of Johnston, Mark (Tracy) Sienknecht of Clutier and Alan (Kristi) Sienknecht of Clutier; seven grandchildren, Krista (Ben) Reis, Katie Larson (Jessie Bartley), Kurt (Melinda) Larson, Heath Sienknecht, Devin (Kyle) Mattingly, Bailey (Cody) Hamilton and Colin Sienknecht; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemarie Welton of Cedar Rapids and Peg (David) Dvorak of Elberon; one sister-in-law, Pauline Sienknecht of Clutier; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; six brothers, Lorenz, Lyle, John, James, Ralph and Bill Sienknecht; two sisters, Violetta Sienknecht and Ada Krutzfeldt; and three nephews, Dwight Sienknecht, Jeff Welton and John Krutzfeldt.
A memorial fund has been established.
