TAMA-LeVerne Forrester, 87, of Tama, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at his home. Private Graveside Services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.
LeVerne was born on July 10, 1923 in Tama, Iowa, the son of George and Pearl (Baltzelle) Forrester.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On May 31, 1946, he was united in marriage to Helen Evans in Lancaster, MO. LeVerne owned and operated Tama Cleaners for over twenty years. He also worked at Bituminous Materials and farmed. LeVerne loved his cattle while farming. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Helen on September 27, 1991; his daughter, Mardis Skala; three brothers, three sisters, and his son-in-law, James Doran.
Survivors include his daughter, Marlene Doran of Tama; three sisters, Patty Hunnicutt of Columbus Junction, Nancy Draper of Murray, UT and Mary Petersen of Texas; his son-in-law, Larry Skala of Toledo; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
