MARSHALLTOWN-Lillian Pauline Thompson, 77, of Odd Fellow Apartments in Marshalltown died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Friends and family will gather Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 2:30 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama and will proceed to Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama for a 3:15 PM Graveside Service.
Lillian was born the fifth of six children to Louis M. and Ellen M. (Christensen) Thompson, on March 6, 1933. She attended the Tama Country Schools.
Lillian moved to Des Moines and later Marshalltown. She worked as a food server at the State Capital and many restaurants. She also worked at Younkers and had housekeeping jobs. Lillian was a six year member of the Foster Grandparents Program in Marshalltown.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Louise LeVora; her brother, "Larry" Thompson; and one grandson, Zackery.
She is survived by one daughter, Marlene Ann (Brian Berger) Thompson of Des Moines; one granddaughter, Heather Lee Thompson-Web; one grandson, Anthony Paul Thompson; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Irving Thompson of Newton; two sisters, Catherine L. Fonken and Patricia Ann Thompson both of Marshalltown; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
