July 25, 1928 – August 18, 2019
Lois Rae Davenport "E-ski-ba-ka-ke-ge", 91, of Tama, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at her home on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Monday, August 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Home Bear Jr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Sunday evening, August 18, 2019 at her home, 277 West Quail Road on the settlement.
Lois was born on July 25, 1928, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Josephine (Morgan) Waseskuk.
On April 3, 1952, she married Curtis "Buddy" Davenport. Lois previously worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, was a CNA, and a teacher's aide at the Meskwaki Settlement School. She enjoyed Bingo, bowling and going to Arizona in the winter.
Survivors include her children, Anthony (Kay) Waseskuk of Montour, Kathleen (Joe) Wheeler of Johnston, Babette Davenport-Pritchett of Waterloo, Keith (Anita) Davenport of Tama, Kay (Les) Deane of Toledo, Kurt Davenport of Montour, Denise (Burtis) Bible of Tama, Dana (Ken Pratt Sr.) Davenport of Montour, and Allison Stewart of Tama; thirty-five grandchildren; eighty-six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley White of Lakeville, MN; two adopted grandsons; three adopted sisters, Martha Freeman, Lorraine Keahna, and Karen Oldbear; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Buddy; three grandsons, Joseph "JoJo" Wheeler Jr., Anthony Waseskuk Jr., and William Wade Defoe; eight siblings, Eleanor Pushetonequa, Bertha Waseskuk, Dorothy Bear, Belle Morgan, Helen Pritchett, Robert Waseskuk, William Waseskuk, and Ben Waseskuk.
