Obituary

TOLEDO-Lois Ann Patterson, age 78, of Toledo, died Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Toledo with Pastor Clair Hein officiating. Private interment will be held at a future date. Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Lois was born on April 15, 1931 in Marshalltown, the daughter of Rel and Violet (Le Fevre) Morgan. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Patterson on October 8, 1950 at the United Brethren Church in Toledo. Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Toledo, where she was involved in various groups. She was also a member of PEO, Order of Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Lois was a former scout leader, and was formerly on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed music, and was involved in numerous musical organizations in the area. As the kids were growing up, Lois enjoyed camping with the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Stephanie Patterson in infancy; and one brother in infancy.
Survivors include her husband, Charles of Toledo; two sons, Michael Patterson of Indianola, and Mark (Sue) Patterson of Tama; four grandchildren; Shannon (Mike) Giese, Brandon Patterson, Ben (Chelle) Patterson, and Katie Patterson; one great-granddaughter, Lily Giese; and one cousin Naomi Zelany of Pueblo, CO.
