Lois Frances Shefchik, 71, of Tama, passed away early Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Lois was born on November 15, 1943, in rural Vining, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Frances (Kucera) Rebik.
She graduated from Toledo High School in 1961.
On May 7, 1966, Lois was married to Russ Shefchik in the Methodist Church in Toledo. Her work for the next twenty years was raising four daughters and maintaining her home. When her youngest daughter started school, she began work for the S.T.C. schools, retiring after many years of service. Lois' family was her life. She passed on her love of cooking and baking to her granddaughters, and to her grandsons the knowledge of "who's the boss when you are at Grandma's house".
Survivors include her husband of forty eight years, Russ of Tama; four daughters, Jennifer (Leon) Kucera of rural Tama, Amber St. John of Tama, Sara Shefchik of Adel and Claire Shefchik (Doug Wacha) of Tama; six grandchildren, Hana Kucera of rural Tama, Katelyn Kucera of Ames, Slade and Jaden St. John of Tama and Roman and Ryder Hill of Tama; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and grand dogs, Kendyl and Oscar of Adel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Cleona Formanek; and one brother, Leon Rebik.
