Lowell George "Bolo" Young Bear, 32, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Wake will be held Wednesday evening at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Settlement in rural Tama.
Lowell was born on March 22, 1988 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Patsy Lasley and Craig Young Bear Sr. He graduated from South Tama County High School in 2006. Lowell also attended the Wyotech Institute. He was an avid sports fan following the Timberwolves, Ravens, and Ohio State. Lowell loved going to concerts and sporting events. He will be remembered for his quick smile and humor.
Survivors include his mother, Patsy Lasley; father, Craig Young Bear Sr.; sisters, Leah Young Bear, Paula Head, Petrice Butterfield, and Antonia Reitinger; brothers, Stevie Young Bear, Craig Young Bear Jr., Lewis Young Bear, and Miles Lasley; nieces, Melina, Rainelle, Leila W., Azalee M., Taylah, and Tyah; nephews, Secoyah, Shaii, Avery, and Taj; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his girlfriend, Kayeloni Kapayou.
Preceding him in death were his sister, Leila Young Bear; brother, Neil Young Bear; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
