Obituary

TAMA-Lucille Walz Cobet, 90, of Tama, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama with Pastor Thomas Dowling officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Lucille was born on March 17, 1921 on a farm north of Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Louise (Lorenzen) Brandt.
She graduated from Toledo High School in 1939.
On May 25, 1944, she was united in marriage to Dale Darwin Walz at the Tama Methodist Parsonage. He passed away in 1987. On January 20, 1990, she married Rex Earl Cobet at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama.
Lucille was a homemaker. During her life she also worked for the Hemp Mill, ASCS office, South Tama Schools, Sunny Hill Care Center and Busy Bee Preschool. She was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama and the UMW, Tama Legion Auxiliary, Oak Hill Cemetery and Haven Cemetery Associations. Lucille volunteered at Carrington Place where she played cards with the residents. She loved playing cards and going to the Casino. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing. Lucille was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dale on June 29, 1987; her son, Gary Walz on December 22, 1988; her husband, Rex on April 26, 1998; and a sister, Bernice Eisele on April 23, 2005.
Survivors include her son, Larry (Barb) Walz of Tama; her step-daughter, Cherie (Donn) Schafer of Charles City; three grandchildren, Tim (Candi) Walz, Tammy (Steve) Chyma and Tiffany (Jerrod) Bridgewater; two step-grandsons, Andrew (Jennifer) Schafer and Matthew (Jennifer) Schafer; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trisha and Tanner Walz, Bailey, Kaylee, Alyssa and Abigail Chyma and Gavin and Emerson Bridgewater; four step-great-grandchildren, Noah, Adam, Allison and Leah Schafer; her siblings, Alfred (Doris) Brandt of Marshalltown and Lorraine (Rex) Avery of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.
