TAMA-Lucille Marie Mears, age 85, a resident of Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the care center due to a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007
from 1 PM until the time of service at the Funeral Home.
Lucille was born on April 20, 1922 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Laura (Hamil) Ribby.
She graduated from Tama High School.
She was united in marriage to O.J. Mears in 1943 in Missouri. Lucille worked at several area taverns over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband O.J. in 1978; and one brother, Leonard Ribby in 1977.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Ribby of Tama; one aunt, Edith Shefchik of Toledo; one niece, Donna (Scott) Klinzing of Springfield, MO; and one nephew, Kevin (Debbie) Ribby of South Bend, IN; and several cousins.
A memorial fund has been established.
