Obituary

CLUTIER-Ludwig J. Kriz, age 85, of Clutier, died on July 8, 2007, in University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City due to a short illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Oratory in rural Clutier with Father Jerry Blake as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 4 PM at Kruse-Phillips Clutier Chapel with visitation following and a Scripture Service at 7 PM.
Ludwig J. Kriz was born on May 25, 1922, on the family farm in rural Clutier, Iowa, the son of Joseph F. and Christina (Kadrmas) Kriz.
He served his country in World War II from August 1945 until December 1946. He served in Germany with the U. S. Army.
He farmed three miles west of Clutier until he retired in 1997. He loved to garden, raise chickens, play pepper and especially enjoyed visiting his nieces and nephews. In his later years, he enjoyed his rides around the yard on his golf cart. He lived with his brother Alfred for sixty years.
Ludwig was a member of St. Wesceslaus Catholic Church in Clutier, the K.D. Lodge, Clutier American Legion Post #453 for sixty-two years, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2828, and was on the church cemetery board for forty years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant brother; a sister, Pauline at age two; two brothers, Melvin and Joe R. Kriz; a sister-in-law, Betty Kriz; two brothers-in-law, Donald Carlson and James Breja; and a nephew, Joey M. Kriz.
Survivors include two brothers, Alfred J. Kriz of Clutier and Frank (Marcella) Kriz of Clutier; two sisters, Evelyn Carlson of Chelsea and Martha Breja of Vining; one sister-in-law, Donna Kriz of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
