TOLEDO-Lyle E. Jantzen, age 74, of Toledo, died on March 26, 2006, at his home due to an accident. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at the Sheridan Cemetery in rural Malcom. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29, 2006 from 4-8 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Lyle E. Jantzen was born on June 10, 1931, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Alma Sieck Jantzen. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He was previously married to Wilma Moorman and they later divorced. On May 31, 1985, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Hootman at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama. He had previously worked at Swift and Co, Gray Iron Foundry, and was a motor operator for Tama County. Lyle was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion of Toledo, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Jantzen.
Survivors include his wife Cynthia of Toledo; one daughter, Becky (Larry) Nelson of Marshalltown; one son, Robert (Tammy) Jantzen of McHenry, IL; one step-daughter, Kari Eastwood of Atkins; one step-son, Trent Hootman of Tama; two brothers, Harold (Betty) Jantzen of Tama and Donald Jantzen of Traer; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
