Margaret Anna Breja, 86, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Toledo, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Garnett Place Retirement Community in Cedar Rapids under the care of Hospice of Mercy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5 - 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Margaret was born on July 26, 1930, in rural Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Ludvicek) Buresh.
On August 26, 1952, she was united in marriage to Louie Breja at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Clutier. Margaret was a farmwife and homemaker, helping with all the chores necessary in farm life. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and KD Lodge 149. Margaret enjoyed baking, especially bread, kolaches and rolickys. She also liked sewing, crocheting, quilting, gardening and playing cards.
Survivors include four daughters, Joan (William) Fishburn of Cedar Rapids, Frances Breja of Cedar Rapids, Bonnie (Tom) Arneson of Decorah, and Deborah Wolf of Marshalltown; seven grandchildren, Mary (Ryan) Batey of Davenport, Matthew Fishburn (Alison Cichowlas) of Somerville, MA, Aaron Fishburn of Iowa City, Kenon Wolf of Lake City, MI, Cassidy (Zach) Homewood of Dike, Logan Wolf of Marshalltown, and Kirsten Arneson of Iowa City; seven great-grandchildren, Norah and Dillon Batey, Cade, Dayne, and Tymber Wolf, and Afton and Colt Homewood; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Louie in 1997; her siblings, Joe Buresh, Millie Pavlicek, Ed Buresh, Helen Ledvina, and one brother in infancy.
