Obituary

TOLEDO-Margie M. (Bostian) Ray Dries, 87, of Mesa, AZ and formerly of Tama-Toledo and Lake Shetek, MN, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Citadel Care Center in Mesa, AZ. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Margie was born on September 3, 1922, on a farm in Poweshiek County, the daughter of James and Lottie (Hach) Bostian.
She attended schools in Chelsea, Tama and graduated from the Toledo Class of 1940.
On November 25, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert Ray at her parents' home in Toledo. He passed away on June 29, 1975. She married Herbert Dries on December 16, 1978 in Mesa, AZ. and his death came on October 29, 1999.
During the war, she worked for Lulu & Jerry Wieland at their Tama Store. She and her husband Robert later owned and operated the Tastee Freez in Toledo for twenty years before retiring to Arizona in 1974.
Margie was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge in Mesa, AZ and the Toledo American Legion Auxiliary. Margie loved to paint and enjoyed spending time at the lake in Minnesota as well as her time in Arizona. She was very fond of her former employees of the Tastee Freez and especially loved spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Robert Ray and Herbert Dries; and one brother, Nathan Bostian.
Survivors include one son, Daniel J. Ray of Mesa, AZ; one daughter, Linda (Laywin) Leek of Toledo; a step-daughter, Jo Ann (the late Ralph) Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; two step-sons, David Dries of Apple Valley, MN and Daniel (Brenda) Dries of Pine Island, MN; two grandsons, Matthew (Angie) Leek of Norwalk and Nathan (Hilary) Leek of Des Moines; one granddaughter, Shannon (Jim) Chatham of Auburn, CA; two great-grandsons, Drake and Drew Leek; one great-granddaughter, Anna Brennan; nine step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Margaret Bostian of Bakersfield, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
