Obituary

Marguerite Kathleen Brickner, 93, of Tama, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Marguerite was born on October 14, 1921, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Cooper) Brickner.
She graduated from high school in 1940 and the last two years of high school she had to move to town so she could go to school and graduate. She then attended St. Thomas Nursing School in Marshalltown and graduated in 1944. Marguerite moved to California in 1945 and lived with her aunt. She worked as a nurse at San Jose Hospital for two years and then worked at Stanford Palo Alto Hospital in the maternity ward for thirty-eight years. She moved back to Iowa to care for her brother that was ill. Marguerite enjoyed reading the Bible. She was a true prayer warrior, praying the Rosary several times a day for anyone in need. She loved her cat Lewy.
Survivors include one sister, Rita Lenhart of Tama; her nieces and nephews, Gary (Patricia) Zigler of Tama, Mick (Rhonda) Lenhart of Tama, Alan (Deb) Lenhart of Florida, Greg Schmidt of Iowa City and Christine Rash of Marshalltown; and several great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Lester Brickner; and one sister, Marjorie Schmidt.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama.
