TAMA-Marie Belle Van De Walle, age 82, of rural Tama, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at her home following a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Marie was born on December 6, 1926 in Grand Junction, Colorado, the daughter of Wesley and Edna May (Bell) Ludwig.
She graduated from high school in Grand Junction, Colorado.
On September 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Van De Walle in Tama.
They made their home in rural Tama where she was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She was previously a sales clerk at Reinbrecht True Value in Tama. Marie's hobbies included gardening and cross-stitching.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband Kenneth of Tama; one daughter, Irene (Paul) Carlson of Raymond, IA; five grandchildren, Gary (Abby) Carlson of Tampa, FL, Diane (Matt) Kesl of Tama, Linda (Joe) Clark of Atkins, Sharon (Steve) Dieke of West Des Moines, and Sheryl (Dan) Thornton of Johnston; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Wesley (Nona) Ludwig of Eureka, CA; one sister, Ramel (Dick) Leach of Cottonwood, CA; and one sister-in-law, Hazel Van De Walle of Tama.
A memorial fund has been established.
