GRINNELL-Marilyn J. Anderson, 77, of Grinnell and formerly of Toledo, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Grinnell. Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 from 5 – 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Marilyn was born October 12, 1933, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Olga (Brimsoe) Thompson.
She graduated from Toledo High School.
On November 8, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert G. Anderson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Malcom. Marilyn was a telephone operator while Robert was in the service. She then was a homemaker and raised her five sons. Later she was an activity director for Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama and currently was a part time receptionist at Seeland Parks/St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert on March 22, 2006; two grandsons, Sidney in 1977 and Brandon in 2008; two sisters, Irene Hageman and Opal Thompson; and two brothers, Vernon and Alf Thompson.
Survivors include five sons, Rob (LuAnn) Anderson of Atkins, Mike (Cindy) Anderson of Toledo, Phil (Tina) Anderson of Atlanta, GA, Tom (Teri) Anderson of Medina, OH and Doug (Diane) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Dorothy) Thompson of Marshalltown.
A memorial fund has been established.
