TOLEDO-Marjorie Joan Leek, 90, of Toledo passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Carrington Place in Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Thomas Dowling officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 13 from 5-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Marjorie was born on July 26, 1921, in Whittemore, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Meta (Schmeling) Baas. On January 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Herbert LeRoy Leek in Burt, Iowa. She was a homemaker and babysitter for many. Marjorie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama and the Toledo American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and quilting. Marjorie especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Herbert in 2000; daughter-in-law, Debra Leek; and siblings, Wilbert Baas, Veryl Baas, Melvin Baas, Joyce Graham, and Sylvia Harms.
Survivors include two sons, Laywin (Linda) Leek of Toledo and Duane (Judy Fuller) Leek of Toledo; three grandchildren, Matthew (Angela) Leek, Nathan (Hilary) Leek, and Daneen (Dirk) Henle; and four great-grandchildren, Drake and Drew Leek, and Dalaynee and Draysen Henle.
