Obituary

Marjorie Elaine Mauskemo, 76, of Tama, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Friday, February 8, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Thursday evening, February 7, 2013 at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama.
Marjorie was born on February 29, 1936, on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Old Bear) Kapayou.
She graduated from Tama High School and attended Marshallltown Community College and a college in Arizona. Marjorie retired from the Meskwaki School as a Language Teacher. She liked to sew, play bone dice, cook, spend time with family, attend gatherings, and travel.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Derrick Mauskemo; two brothers; one sister, Shirlene K. Eagle; and a nephew, Mark Eagle.
Survivors include one daughter, Adrienne Mauskemo of Tama, four sons, Sean Mauskemo, Kenneth Mauskemo, Alexander Kevin Mauskemo, all of Tama, and Randy Blair of Bishop, CA; two sisters, Sharon Mauskemo of Tama, and Wanda Kapayou of Des Moines; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
