Mark Alan Kriegel, 70, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his home under the care of Mercy Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 1-3 PM at the Tama American Legion, 1105 E 5th St., Tama.

Mark was born on July 22, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Leonard H. and Lillian Marie (Tesar) Kriegel.

He graduated from South Tama High School in 1968. In high school, he played football and baseball.

Mark served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971.

On June 22, 1984, he was  united in marriage to Ronda Peters at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mark worked as a heavy equipment operator and did a lot of drainage tile installation. Mark was a huge Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, Mark loved spending time with his family. After the boys were grown, he loved going to different casinos. He was a great husband and father.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Ronda of Tama; two sons, Corey (Sammi) Kriegel of Tama, and Jacob Kriegel of Ankeny; five grandchildren, Gavin, Hailee, Tyrus, Tyauna, and Olivia; one sister, Sally (John) Willett of Tama; and one brother, Hank (Janet) Kriegel of Tama.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Anna Lea Arnold; one niece, Ann Willett, who Mark had a special bond with throughout her life.

A memorial fund will be established.
