TOLEDO-Mark Carrol Sevde, 55, of Toledo, passed away Monday April 11, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Thomas Dowling officiating. Interment will be private at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home. Mark was born August 29, 1955, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Nadine (Hegardt) Sevde of Toledo, Iowa where he resided all his life.
Mark graduated from South Tama High School. He owned and operated Sevde Fire Extinguisher since 1994 when he took over the business from his father. He was also employed by Fisher Controls in Marshalltown and later Williams Mfg. of Tama. Mark was active with the Toledo Fire Department for many years as a volunteer firefighter. In his free time, he was very active with Old Threshers in Mt. Pleasant and enjoyed going to many antique power shows. Mark was also an active member of Abate of Iowa, enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and working on small engines.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela Kae (Mark) Whaley of Maxwell; a son, Matthew Mark Sevde of Marshalltown; a sister, Susan; a brother, Craig; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
